Summer travel season is here, and whether you’re heading to the beach, visiting family or taking a weekend getaway, be sure your account with The Toll Roads is up to date to help make your drive smooth.
Make Sure Your License Plate is Up to Date
Recently purchased a new vehicle or received new plates? One of the most important things drivers can do is confirm their vehicle information is current on their account. Keeping your license plate information updated helps ensure tolls are properly processes and helps avoid unnecessary toll violations.
To update your account, visit TheTollRoads.com and log in to our secure account and payment portal.
Add Rental Cars Before You Drive
Planning to use a rental car for your summer trip? Don’t forget to add the vehicle temporarily to your account before traveling on The Toll Roads. Adding the plate information ahead of time can help ensure tolls are charged correctly and helps avoid additional rental car administrative fees.

Your Account Works Across California (& Beyond!)
Your account with The Toll Roads can be used on every tolled bridge, lane and road in California. And, thanks to our partnership with North Texas Tollway Authority, our accountholders can use their account to pay tolls on facilities in Dallas/Fort Worth and Tyler, Texas.

Don’t Forget Your Transponder
The Toll Roads offer a variety of transponders to best fit the needs of our drivers. Whether you have a sticker or FasTrak Flex®, all transponders issued by The Toll Roads can be used to pay tolls in California and North Texas. However, some toll facilities offer a carpool discount with a FasTrak Flex transponder. To see which facilities offer discounts, click here.
You can request sticker transponders or purchase FasTrak Flex switchable transponders online, by phone, in person or at one of our retail partners. Learn more about purchasing a transponder at TheTollRoads.com.
Forgot to Pay Online?
If you received a violation in the mail—don’t panic. If it’s your first time driving the roads without paying in 5 days, simply follow the instructions on the notice to pay the toll only (without penalties). To resolve a violation or learn more, visit TheTollRoads.com.
Watch Out for Toll Payment Scams
Scam text messages pretending to collect unpaid tolls continue to circulate nationwide. If you receive a text with a blurry image telling you to appear in court unless you pay your toll immediately, pause and report it as junk. A legitimate notice won’t come as a screenshot from a random number with a sketchy QR code and a countdown clock.
For information about phishing, visit the Federal Trade Commission’s Consumer Advice website at Consumer.FTC.Gov.
A few quick checks before your trip can help make summer travel easier and give you more time to focus on the destination ahead. Before you drive, take a few minutes to review your account information, update vehicles and plan your route ahead of time. Safe travels this summer and remember to enjoy the drive.
