Witch Way to Pay? Avoid Violations This Halloween

Let’s make this Halloween about chills, thrills and candy counting, not toll violations creeping into your mailbox! Whether you’re driving to a costume party, heading to a pumpkin patch, or chauffeuring little goblins around Orange County, here’s how to keep your drive fright-free and your account in good standing.

Don’t Let a Violation Haunt You

No one likes an unexpected toll violation showing up after the fun is over. Keep these quick tips in mind before you hit The Toll Roads.

  • Make sure your account is active and up-to-date. Double-check your payment method and license plate information at TheTollRoads.com or The Toll Roads app before you drive.
  • Borrowing a friend’s car or using a rental? You can easily add the license plate to your account temporarily or pay the tolls without an account online.
  • Check your transponder. Make sure it’s mounted properly to the vehicle or broomstick you’ll be driving.
  • Pay within five days. No account? Don’t panic. Visit The Toll Roads website to pay your tolls within five days to avoid a violation.

Stay Safe on Your Spooky Ride

Even with the best costume and playlist, safety should always ride shotgun. Keep these Halloween driving reminders in mind.

  • Slow down in neighborhoods. Like a ghost, excited trick-or-treaters can appear out of nowhere.
  • Turn on your headlights early. It helps everyone see you, even before the sun sets and the ghosts and goblins appear.
  • Put the phone away. Checking your phone while driving? That’s a real fright. Wait until you’re safely parked to scroll.
  • Never drive under the influence. Plan ahead with a designated driver or call a rideshare if you’re going to have a witch’s brew (or two).

Stay safe, drive smart and may your Halloween be full of treats, not tricks. Happy Halloween from The Toll Roads, where we’re keeping Orange County moving, no matter how spooky the season gets.
